Happy 80th Birthday!

by kari on March 7, 2010

This weekend we took a little road trip to Oklahoma to celebrate Brent’s grandmother’s 80th birthday.  The girls were pretty excited about the present they made for her.  Brent and I put the kids’ hand prints on the flower pot and then the girls painted it, I wrote the letters, and Brent finished it up.  It was a really fun present to make.  The girls LOOOOOOOVE painting! The party itself was really fun.  I was preparing myself for some meltdowns since it was during nap time, but the kids did fabulous.  I think I was more tired than they were =) Little man enjoyed the endless supply of food. Pretty sure whoever was holding him just kept handing him crackers to keep him still…he was in heaven!!

Brent and his brother even played some of Grandma’s favorite hymns for her.  Did you know guitars are like magnets?  If my kids are ever missing, I’ll just pull out a guitar and they will all magically appear.  The oldest asked me “when do I get to be a real rock star with my own guitar?“  I answered, “maybe when you’re 5“.

This is how my creative middle kid entertains herself at parties…organizes and sorts all the objects into new and creative patterns.  Some people think she’s the quiet one because of this activity.  If they only knew….

We are so thankful we got to be there to celebrate!  Happy Birthday Grandma!!!

What fun! We keep telling Micah he can learn guitar when he’s 5 too. He’s excited because he’ll actually get to use Brian’s baby Taylor to learn on. He even wants a rock star party. Which if that is what Avery wants, you’d have a much easier time finding some cool party stuff in the rock star theme for girls than for a boy! All the boy stuff has skull and cross bones on it! But I did find some finally! I was already eying your cake from Brent’s birthday to see what I could do!
